My practice focuses on providing therapy for anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and adjusting to life stress. I provide both short-term and long-term psychotherapy, and my work draws on a blend of interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, attachment-focused, and more traditional psychodynamic approaches to therapy, depending on the needs and preferences of the client.

Dr. Eller maintains two distinct and separate private practices: (1) A clinical psychology practice serving individual adults and couples (2) a College Admissions Consultation practice for college-bound high school students and their parents. My job is to help you learn how to master the skills needed to regulate your emotions and develop healthy, satisfying relationships in your personal life and at work. My approach to treatment begins with an assessment of the problems you brings to me in the context of your personal history and your current family, community, and work situations. I will then work with you to craft a treatment plan that addresses your longer term treatment goals by clearly outlining a path of weekly goals that will lead you to a successful outcome. My treatment approach integrates Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, EMDR, and Family Systems therapy.

 

 

 

 

 

My style of individual psychotherapy embraces the first importance of making a connection with you. I work with you to learn from your family and past, your relationships and what you say and feel inside. Our goal will be to help you become comfortable and at ease with yourself while learning to act more constructively and positively in the here and now.

Dr. West is a clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Areas of expertise include adjustment to chronic medical illness, pain management, behavioral health issues (encopresis, vocal cord dysfunction, habit cough), anxiety, and depression. In addition to private practice, Dr. West holds a part-time faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I received my BA, MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rochester. During my undergraduate years, I also studied voice at the Eastman School of Music. After graduation, I worked with maltreated adolescents at the Mt. Hope Family Center, where I later began research to better understand how beliefs about control relate to clinical symptomatology in high-risk youth. After completing a Post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester Counseling Center (UCC), I joined the faculty as a Staff Psychologist and ultimately became the Director of UCC until I resigned in 2012 to pursue full time private practice.During my 10+ years in college mental health, I provided supervision and consultation to many professionals who were in training to learn the practice of psychotherapy. I also provided consultation and educational workshops to many diverse individuals and groups of faculty and staff on the University of Rochester campus and the broader community. The basis of any good counseling relationship is finding someone you can connect with and who seems to "get you". I strive to provide an environment that facilitates trust, respect, compassion and understanding for your uniqueness. I work in a proactive, collaborative, flexible and transparent way. I am direct and open, offer honest feedback and insightful challenges. I help you search for maladaptive patterns and work with you on trying new approaches. I believe everyone has core strengths that with the right support and guidance will serve as a foundation for more self-confidence, healthier relationships and increased self-fulfillment. Dr. Mitchell received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and his Psy.D. from Baylor University. After completing his pre-doctoral internship in Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, he remained there and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Mitchell has previously been a consulting psychologist for the Orleans and Wyoming County Mental Health Centers as well as the East Rochester school district. Dr. Mitchell is currently a consulting psychologist for the Ontario and Genesee County Mental Health Centers. Dr. Mitchell also provides clinical consultation/evaluation for the Wayne Fingerlakes BOCES program, and the Monroe County Department of Human Services. Dr. Mitchell is a Past President of GVPA. Dr. Mitchell has been in private practice since 1991, serving the needs of children, adolescents, and their families.

I specialize in family-based treatment for adolescent anorexia nervosa and bulimia. I also work with college students and adults with eating disorders.

 

Dr. Larson maintains a full-time private practice in general adult psychotherapy, and sees both individuals and couples. He is a cognitive-behavioral therapist and is a certified member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Larson has a particular interest in working with patients with anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. He also works extensively with patients with chronic medical problems. Dr. Larson is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he teaches their psychiatry residents and psychology interns. I practiced as a clinical neuropsychologist for over 20 years as a faculty member in the division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I remain as a Clinical (adjunct) Associate Professor in this Department (now Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation), but am now in private practice. I have also done extensive work in the past few years assessing individuals prior to bariatric (weight loss) surgery, and continue doing these evaluations as well, in private practice.

I have extensive experience in the use of clinical hypnosis as a therapeutic method for assisting individuals with a wide variety of behavioral and emotional problems e.g smoking cessation, eating/weight concerns, anxiety, phobias and pain symptoms. I also provide general psychotherapy using both psychodynamic and behavioral approaches and have worked with dissociative disorders for many years.

I currently am Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry (Psychology) at the U. of R. School of Medicine,where I served as full-time faculty member for 37 years, and as Chief of Psychology at Strong Memorial Hospital for 17 years.
 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Bateman is a Clinical Psychologist who sees adolescents (ages 16 and up) and adults. Dr. Bateman has been a member of the Rochester community for many years. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester's doctoral program in Clinical Psychology, and she has completed an APA-accredited internship as well as a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry. She has developed specialties in the effective, evidence-based treatment of the following presenting concerns: Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, and Trauma. Dr. Bateman is also skilled in providing services to address grief, stress management, relationship issues, among many others. Her approach to psychotherapy is grounded in evidence-based practices and generally informed by training in exposure-based, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches to psychotherapy. Dr. Russo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester and graduate degree from the University of Denver. Dr. Russo is a licensed psychologist in New York state. He served as Chair of the Membership Committee and President of the Rochester Area Group Psychotherapy Society in the past. Dr. Russo is a member of the New York State Psychological Association.
